Arena Football Odds - Football Lines

The Arena Football League (AFL), was founded in 1987 as an American football indoor league. The league's inaugural season featured four teams: the Chicago Bruisers, Denver Dynamite, Pittsburgh Gladiators, and Washington Commandos. The teams played a six-game season, ending in Arena Bowl I, where Denver defeated Pittsburgh.

Although the Drive left the league, the AFL still has a number of teams today which it considers "dynasties", including the Tampa Bay Storm (the only team that has existed in some form for all twenty seasons), their archrival the Orlando Predators, the San Jose Sabercats of the present decade, and their rivals the Arizona Rattlers.

In 1993 the league staged its first, and only to date, All-Star game in Des Moines, Iowa, the future home of the Iowa Barnstormers. The National Conference defeated the American Conference 64-40 in front of a crowd of 7,189.

Each team fields eight players at a time from a 20-man active roster. Before 2007, players played both offense and defense except for the quarterback, kicker, an offensive specialist (Wide Receiver/Running Back combination) and two defense specialists (Defensive Backs).

Arena Football Odds

Odds in Arena Football are displayed in the same format than NFL Football or College Football Odds. Pointspread and moneylines are the most popular odds in AFL and it follows the same betting rules in our sportsbook.

Arena Football Field

A typical Arena Football Lines example are: San Jose Sabercats (-125) vs. Arizona Rattlers (+135). As a typical moneyline, the team with a negative line is the favorite for to win the game. This AFL Line example means:

If you bet on Sabercats to win, you need to risk $125 for to win only $100.

If you bet on Rattlers to win, you win $135 if your wager was $100.

A pointspread example for the same game would be: San Jose Sabercats (-2) vs. Arizona Rattlers (+3).. When the game between Sabercats and Rattlers ends, 2 points are subtracted from Sabercats' score and 3 point are added to the Rattlers' score. This adjusted score determines the winner. For example, if the final score was Sabercats - 21, Rattlers - 20, Sabercats has obviously won the game. However, for betting purposes, we subtract 2 points from Sabercats and the final score for betting purposes is Sabercats - 19, Rattlers - 23. If you bet on San Jose to win, you lose the bet even though Sabercats won the game.

For the pointspread odds, if one team is thought to be worse than the other, additional points will be added to their score. If a team is thought to be better than the other, they will have points subtracted from their score.

How to bet on Arena Football using the odds?

Football Lines and Odds

Pointspread & Over/Under Wagers
On a pointspread wager, the team wagered must win by the pointspread. On an over/under wager, the total points of the contest by both teams, overtime included, must fall over or under the side selected. Pointspread and Over/Under lines will be offered on all NFL, AFL and NCAA contests.

Moneyline Wagers
Moneyline Wagering is simply wagering on the contest based on a given price rather than a pointspread. The team wagered on just has to win the game.

Additional Information

Parlays: A parlay is a bet in which you select 2 to 8 teams or totals. All selections must win or tie in order to win the wager. If any of the selections lose, your wager loses, regardless of the outcome or cancellation of the other games. If one or more selections is a tie, postponed, incomplete, cancelled or rescheduled for another day, then the wager reverts to the next lowest number. Calcule your winnings in our Parlay Calculator.

Teasers: A teaser allows the bettor to combine his bets on two or more different games. The bettor can adjust the point spreads for the two games, but realizes a lower return on the bets in the event of a win. Calcule your winnings in our Teaser Calculator.
