The University of Louisville Cardinals football team is a member of the Big East Conference. The football program is on the rise, having its best success over the last decade. The Cardinals have made nine straight bowl game appearances since 1998 and have won eleven games in the 2006 season and seven games each of those preceding seasons. The team plays its home games at Papa John's Cardinal Stadium.

Brian Brohm (born September 23, 1985 in Louisville, Kentucky) is currently the starting quarterback for the University of Louisville, a member of the Big East Conference.He is a 6-foot-4, 225-pound quarterback from Louisville (Ky.) Trinity High School, Brohm was named the 2005 Big East Offensive Player of the Year while leading the Cardinals to a 9-3 record and an appearance in the 2006 Toyota Gator Bowl. In 2006, he led the Cardinals to a 12-1 record and earned MVP honors in the 2007 Orange Bowl.

CAREER: While passing for 10,579 yards and 119 touchdowns during his prep career, Brohm led the Trinity Shamrocks to the 4-A State Title in 2001, 2002, and 2003. Brian was featured on the cover of Sports Illustrated on November 18, 2002 while he was a junior in high school. Brohm was named 2003 Kentucky Mr. Football and was the Gatorade Player of the Year for 2003. Brohm was named one of the top five quarterbacks in America by Rivals.com and was selected to participate in the 2004 U.S. Army All-American game in San Antonio, TX.

Brohm also played basketball and baseball for the Shamrocks helping the basketball team to its first ever Regional Title and the baseball team to a state runner-up title.

Louisville Cardinals

The Louisville Cardinals (affectionately referred to as "the Cards") joined the Big East Conference on July 1, 2005 after spending the previous 10 years as a member of Conference USA. U of L is traditionally known for its men's basketball and women's volleyball teams. However, in recent years the football team has gained national prominence, with a 32-5 record since 2004 and two of three seasons finishing in the top 6 in both the the final Bowl Championship Series and AP polls. The Cardinals won the 2006 Big East title and the 2007 Orange Bowl.
