We're very close to the final game in the 2010 Stanley Cup playoffs. We can see the Philadelphia Flyers and the Chicago Blackhawks give their best, being the only two teams left standing after an intense tournament, and both teams want to take Lord Stanley's Cup home.
The Blackhawks was the second overall team in the western Conference. With an impressive young lineup, the Blackhawks have climbed to the finals and are ready to give it all at the next game. The fans of the team are anxious, yet claim not to be surprised that their favorite team is in the finals.
Many people say that the Flyers shouldn't even be at the finals, for a lot of reasons. For example, the team entered into the playoffs on the last day of the season. Also, they became the lowest seeded team ever to host a conference final and besides, the team has had 7 different goalies on the roster only this year. The team played very badly during December, that being the reason why John Stevens, the coach at the time, was fired. But the truth is that they are here, at the finals, and they are prepared to do what's necessary to beat their opponent and take the Stanley Cup home.
It's interesting when two excellent players share a lot of things but are on opposite sides of the court at the game. This is the case with Jonathan Toews and Mike Richards, both energetic and tenacious players. On one side is Jonathan Toews who plays for the Blackhawks, trying to win his first championship since 1961. On the other side is Mike Richards, leading the Flyers back to the finals for the first time in 13 years. Toews is only 22 years old and the center of the Chicago Blackhawks. He is considered an important element on every game, with 7 goals and 19 assists in 16 games. Richards, the Flyers' star, is 25 years old and has 21 points in 17 games.
The forwards on the Flyers are great players, too. This is a team with a lot of potential, but like the Blackhawks, it's fighting to beat the opposition and win.
Talking about defense, Philadelphia and Chicago are the two best teams in the playoffs; they have good players and stars. From Philadelphia, Chris Pronger has been nominated as the best defensive player in the playoffs. Chicago's Brian Campbell and Brent Seabrook are regarded as that team's best.
