It was a great game; the Giants had their lucky shine on from the beginning of the game, while the Patriots simply started with the left foot. I must say that watching this great event was exciting, even with the loss of my favorite team. It was clear from the start of the game, and even the week before, that the Giants had better weapons to overcome the Pats. The team was balanced, had good offensive and one of the most powerful defensive walls of all season. Taking down the Giant of New York was something that would simply require a miracle, a miracle that did not happen in the last seconds of the game.
Eli Manning made a stellar performance and was over Tom Brady almost the whole game. The No.12 was solid, even with all the pressure over him, but the stats say that Manning hold a better Total Quarterback Rating and we saw the difference with the Giants 21-17 victory.
I've seen it in the quarterback's faces, this was a weight that both were carrying, but Eli was totally focused, and he knew that the task ahead could be difficult, but he remained calm before and during the game. Tom's face said the opposite; he seems worried, not nervous, indecisive or un-focused, but really under pressure. Both quarterbacks made their jobs at their best, but Manning did it better, that's simple.
Same happened on the offensive lines. The Giants offensive was aggressive and passionate, even with the improvements on the Patriot defense that they encountered, the Giants made it through in the most crucial moments. The mistakes made by the Patriots since the beginning augmented the opportunities for the Giants, and these were taken at the maximum, Manning passes with Nicks and Cruz awesome catches who seems to be at the right place on every moment added the edge they need it to turn the game at their favor. The crucial moment came when Bradshaw made the decisive touchdown. I must say that the defensive line of the Pats was really good, until that moment. Bradshaw walked through the touchdown area as if he was just taking a walk on Central Park.
The Patriots offensive didn't make the apparition as expected; the reception flaws were the real problem for New England, Wes Welker has made that play many times, the pass was good, seeing the ball slipping from Welker hands made me jump from the couch on rage; That was the winning boost the Pats needed to get easily to the red zone, Jesus; that play is still hurting my memory. Losing the ball opened so many windows for Manning to do the job. About the Patriots defense, everyone was expecting a weak secondary easy to beat since the Pats defense was one of the worst during the whole season, however the defense improved a lot for this game and they did a great job%u2026 until Bradshaw made a safe tunnel through them, it's like if they just opened the path for him.
I'm still mad for the loss, but it's pointless to take merits off the Giants plays for errors made by New England. They took advantage of them as any would have do it.
Both teams made sacrifices and incredible plays, and both gave us an unforgettable Super Bowl. The Giants made the job, and they made it good. The Lombardi trophy will rest at New York this time; after all it was a well deserved victory. So, Congratulations to the Champions!
